Hands-on Percussion Making workshop and Drum Circle activity – Creativity meets inclusivity
Facilitated by Chia Cheng Kok (View Cheng Kok’s biog) of Percussion Store
In collaboration with Percussion Store, join this immersive half-day percussion making workshop, specially crafted with a focus on special needs education. Attendees will get the unique opportunity to expand their teaching tool-kit for special needs with:
– Percussion Instrument Creation
Engage in hands-on crafting of percussion instruments – mallets / shakers / cajon / bongo – that will not only equip you with skills to make musical tools but also inspire your creativity in teaching methods. This 3-hour session includes an intro to the tools and materials used and the crafting of the instrument itself.
– Seminar with Sherrene Teh
1-hour interactive discussion and tips for in-lesson usage by Sherrene Teh (View Sherrene Teh’s biog), a music therapist and lecturer. Plus point if you’re already working with students with disabilities!
– Drum Circle Finale
An energising 45-min drum circle session, with Chia Cheng Kok (View Cheng Kok’s biog) where attendees can celebrate their newly crafted instruments. This immersive experience is not only about making music together but also about understanding the power of rhythm and collaboration in an educational context.
